[ARCHIVED] Police investigating burglaries at jewelry stores

Surveillance video

The Bainbridge Island Police Department is investigating two early-morning burglaries at jewelry stores and needs the public’s help identifying the thieves.

The first burglary occurred at Bainbridge Island Gold & Jewelry, at 130 Winslow Way E, at approximately 4:00 a.m. Feb. 24. The thieves used a brick to smash a window to get inside the business, then broke a glass display and stole items. The value of property taken is estimated at $20,000.

The second burglary happened at Bainbridge Diamond and Jewelry, at 265 Winslow Way E, around 6:30 a.m. Feb. 25. The suspects used a shovel to break the glass window then stole items from the window display. Surveillance video from a nearby business shows two people - one carrying a shovel - walking toward the jewelry store with their faces covered. A few seconds later the pair is seen on camera again walking away quickly while carrying stolen merchandise.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bainbridge Island Police Department at 206-842-5211.
