Scott Weiss Promoted to Deputy Chief

Congratulations are in order for Sergeant Scott Weiss, recently selected to fill the Bainbridge Island PD’s deputy chief position.  Weiss began his career with the BIPD in 1989 as a reserve officer, and was hired as a full-time officer in 1991. Prior to his career in law enforcement, he served in the US Navy and was a volunteer firefighter/EMT for North Kitsap.

During his tenure at BIPD, Weiss has worked as a patrol officer, field training officer, lead marine patrol officer, detective, regional narcotics task force detective, corporal, lieutenant, patrol sergeant, detective sergeant, and administrative sergeant. In 2019, he served as the interim deputy chief and from December 2019 until April 2020, he served as interim chief.

Weiss holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice. He also earned a career-level certificate in Executive Management from the Criminal Justice Training Commission and is a graduate of the FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association Command College.

Chief of Police Joe Clark states that ‘Weiss’s experience is reflective of the talented group of individuals at BIPD who serve this community,’ adding that he ‘is pleased to have made this selection.’ Weiss steps into the deputy chief role on May 17, 2021.
