What type of test is being offered?

PCR tests will be used at the City’s testing site; it will be an observed self-swab nasal test that will show if a person has an active coronavirus infection (provides a positive or negative result only).

This is NOT an antibody test.

1. When is the testing site open?: Mondays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

2. Who should get tested?

Anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
Anyone identified by Public Health officials as being a “close contact” with someone who has COVID-19.
Anyone who needs a negative test to return to work.
Anyone who may have been exposed through a large gathering, or traveled to an area with a high prevalence of COVID-19.

3. Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes, advance registration and an appointment are required for a test. Please make an appointment online at https://www.testdirectly.com/patient/home
If there are multiple people in the same household who need a test, please schedule back-to-back appointments.

4. How much does testing cost?

The test is free.
- If you have health insurance, then the insurance provider will be billed for the cost of the test.
- If you do not have insurance, you can be tested at no cost to you through a federal program administered through the Federal Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA). You will need to attest to your absence of insurance and enroll in this program that covers all testing and treatment costs related to COVID-19.

5. What type of test is being offered?

This is NOT an antibody test.

6. How long will it take for the results to be available?

Test results are emailed or sent via text message 48 to 72 hours later from the Northwest Lab

7. How do I get tested if I do not have a vehicle?: Walk up (wearing a mask) to the check in-tent at Town Square (there will be a registration technician); then walk to the testing tent (inside the tent there will be a table and plexiglass set up).

8. How do I change or cancel my appointment?: You will receive a text message with a link where you can change or cancel your appointment.

9. What if I lose my QR code?: We strongly encourage you to take a photo of your QR code for safe keeping, but if you lose your QR code or have trouble accessing your results, call Kitsap Public Health District at 360-728-2235 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Please allow at least three business days before calling regarding the status of your results.
