How to Participate in the Island-wide Transportation Plan (IWTP) Process
The update of the Plan is being developed by Public Works staff and Engineering Manager Chris Hammer is the designated contact person. Interested parties may contact Chris by phone at 206-780-3740 or submit written comments by email.
The Non-Motorized Transportation Advisory Committee (NMTAC) had been involved in the drafting of the Plan since the effort began in early 2015 and are available to discuss the Plan update with the public.
The Planning Commission has been involved in developing the Transportation Element of the Comprehensive Plan along with its integration with the IWTP. Public Works staff first presented the draft IWTP to the Planning Commission in the fall of 2015. Planning Commission members are available to discuss with the public the Transportation Element of the Comprehensive Plan which is integral with the IWTP.
Public comment will be taken on the proposed IWTP at the following scheduled meetings.
Comprehensive Plan Open Houses
- Saturday September 17th at City Hall, starting at 10 a.m.
- Thursday September 22nd at City Hall, Starting at 4 p.m.
Information about the IWTP, as well as Planning Commission and Non-Motorized Transportation Advisory Committee recommendations, are planned to be presented to City Council in late October or early November of this year. Public Comment will be taken at that time. See City's calendar for scheduling.
View the City's website calendar for upcoming City Council meeting schedules.
It is intended that the IWTP will be adopted by resolution at the same time, or soon following, the adoption of the Comprehensive Plan by ordinance; therefore, interested parties are encouraged to get their comments in before year-end.
