Project at Winslow Way Ravine Brings Traffic Lane, Sidewalk Closures

Pedestrian Alternate Route Map

People who walk on the southern sidewalk of Winslow Way East (near Waypoint Park) will need to use alternate routes getting to and from the ferry terminal when work begins early next month at the Winslow Way ravine, which is across from The Island Gateway where BIMA, Bainbridge Brewing Alehouse and other businesses are located.

During the two-month project, the sidewalk on the south side of Winslow Way East, from the Tillicum Condominiums – near Bjune Dr SE – to Waypoint Park, will be closed and pedestrians will be detoured to the north side of Winslow Way. There will be signs along Winslow Way to let pedestrians and other users know that the sidewalk is closed. The closure is necessary so crews can replace the existing storm water pipe at Ravine Creek to accommodate storm water flows.

A portion of Waypoint Park will be closed during the project and access to the sidewalk on the south side of Winslow Way will be blocked.

Pedestrians may use the Waterfront Trail as an alternate route getting to and from the ferry. Access to the Waterfront Trail is located at Waterfront Park or Shannon Drive from the west or Harborview Drive (across from Seaside Station) from the ferry terminal.

The right-turn-only lane on Winslow Way East will be closed throughout the project.

In addition, there may be short closures of the eastbound travel lane on Winslow Way to allow for construction activities. Flaggers will be present to control traffic, and drivers may encounter temporary delays during these periods. The eastbound travel lane closures will not occur during the morning or afternoon commute times.

People who live and work nearby should expect noise due to construction activity. The work is allowed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday through Friday.
